Edward Spencer Abraham , born the June 12th 1952 with East Lansing (Michigan), is an American politician , wire of immigrants Lebanon board, member of the Republican party, former senator of the Michigan to the Congress and 10th secretary with Energy during the 1st mandate of George W. Bush.

Of 1983 with 1990, it sits at the steering committee of the Republican party of Michigan.

In 1990-1991, it joined the cabinet of the vice-president daN Quayle.

Of 1991 with 1995, it sits at the direction of the national committee of the republicans of the Congress (National Republican Congressional Committee).

Member of the legal Commission of the senate, it has, as of 1994, Ann Coulter as assistant.

From 1995 with 2001, he is senator of Michigan to the Congrès and only Arab American represented in this room. Abraham is one of the authors of the law carrying validity of the electronic signature in the commercial contracts and many laws relating to the use of Internet.

It tries to renew its mandate in November 2000 but is beaten by the democrat Debbie Stabenow.

In 2001, it is named secretary with Energy in the 1st government of George W. Bush.

The November 15th 2004, the shortly after the re-election of president George W. Bush, Abraham announces her resignation of the secretariat to the Energy which takes effect with the service of her successor Samuel W. Bodman the 2005.

It is had a presentiment of, at the end of the month of February 2005, for the post of ambassador of the United States to the Canada.

March 1st 2006, it is named president of the Board of directors of AREVA Inc., the North-American subsidiary company of the French industry group Areva.

Father of three children, Spencer Abraham is graduate in right of the university of Harvard.
