Speedball (New Warriors)

Speedball is a superman created by Marvel Comics, appeared for the first time in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #22 , in 1988.

Origin

Robbie Baldwin was the average American teenager, inhabitant with Springdale with his parents, the Madelyne actress and the Justin prosecutor. He worked after the courses for Doctor Nicholas Benson, in the laboratory Hammond Research.

Curious about work of its employer, Robbie discovered that this last had succeeded with absorbed kinetic energy of another dimension. birth of New Warriors

Civil War

Night Thrasher made it reappear one second time, this time under fires of the projectors, in an emission of real-TV recalling the adventures of a super-team. Speedball was most enthusiastic of the participants.

However, that proved to be tragic, when the team tried to apprehend some super-criminals hidden in the middle of a peaceful district, Stamford. Nitro exploded, killing Namorita, Microbe and Night Thrasher, like several hundreds of inhabitants. The capacities of Speedball protected it. it was found hardly alive, and without any capacity. It became the scapegoat and was imprisoned.

At the time of its stay in prison, it was beaten on several occasions. One day, at the time of an exit for an audience, the father of the one of the dead children with Stamford, drew to him above. The ball logeau close to the vertebrae and on the road to the hospital, from new capacities emerged.

Penance

Speedball escaped then and forged a new identity: Penance. The armor of Penance is papered metal spines, as much as there were victims with Stamford. They are inserted with each movement in the flesh of Baldwin, enabling him to activate its capacities.

Capacities

When it was Speedball, Baldwin had a capacity kinetic in the shape of bubbles of unknown energy accompanying it in all its displacements. It could not be wounded by the falls and the impacts and rebounded under their force. Its transformation into Speedball was done on simple mental order.
From now on, as Penance, capacities of emergent Speedball under the blow of the pain. The interior of its armor is covered of more than 600 small peaks, making it suffer with each movement. The pain is converted into energy which is stored by the armor.
