Speed limits in Lithuania

In Lithuania (official abbreviation: LT ), the speed limits are close to those into force in France.
Speed controls realized by mobile radars are very current and the extremely respectful motorists of the limitations, which however does not prevent Lithuania from having death rate more raised Europe.

  • downtown, speed is limited to 50 km/h. However, certain large urban arteries are limited to 60 km/h. Speed controls are very frequent, even systematic of night.

  • Except agglomeration, speed is limited to 90 km/h. Many speed controls.
  • On highway, speed is limited to 130 km/h. Many speed controls.

Remarks

If the Lithuanian highways are excellent with regard to the quality of asphalt, those are not in conformity with the European standards. Indeed, there is not that few exits of the highway type such as one know them elsewhere in Europe (bridges, exchangers, etc).

For example, to move towards a destination being on the left highway, there exist exits in " U" for… making half-turn (on the highway) and joining the exit nearest once on the opposite roadway.

Other rules
