Speed Demon

Speed Demon is super-unpleasant pertaining to the universe of Marvel Comics, appeared for the first time in Avengers #69 , in 1969 under the name of Whizzer. The identity of Speed Demon goes back as for it to 1981.

Origin

The New Yorkean chemist James “Jim” Sanders wanted to change his tedious life. He sought to develop a formula hyper-speed but failed each time. Approached by the Large Master, a Senior of the Universe, it was selected to represent it in a play against Kang which had selected the Vengeurs. The Large Master offered capacities against his participation to him, and Sanders accepted. Its work bore their fruits, thanks to the assistance of the Senior, and it created a chemical formula granting a super-speed to him.

It was made call at its Whizzer beginning, without knowing that there existed another Whizzer in a reality parralèle (that of the Supreme Escadron). It thus joined the Sinister Escadron, the team of the Large Master based on the Supreme Squadron.

It fought Goliath and the Black Chevalier in London and was overcome.

Later, the Sinister Squadron sold the Earth with the alien named Nébulon. But the group was betrayed by Nighthawk which was combined with the Défenseurs. Nébulon and the Squadron was projected in another dimension, the kingdom of Zaar. They used the technology of the inhabitants to return on Earth, to be beaten once again by the Defenders. The Doctor Strange made use of its mystical art to erase the memories of the three criminals (Whizzer, Hyperion and Doctor Spectrum), so that they take again their normal life. Whizzer thus worked on behalf of the pharmaceutical laboratory Hudson, under the name of Harvey James until a meeting with the Avengers returns to him the memory. It attacked them but was quickly beaten.

He concocta a new formula and baptized Speed Demon. He made use of his capacities to fly of the museums. He was stopped by Spider-Man and the Human Torche.

He joined thereafter the Scarabée, Boomerang, Hydro-Man and in Rhino to form the Disaster Trade union. But of the internal tensions quickly reflect with evil the group and they were overcome by Spider-Man.

He chose then a career solo of super-criminal and fought against Rocket Racer, the New Warriors, Captain America, or Deathlok, that it is under the orders of Justin Hammer or those of the Maggia.

Employed by Hammer with Blizzard, he faced the Thunderbolts and his former partner Mach-4 (Abe Jenkins).

One revives it in an arena of combat with Madripoor, overcome by Wolverine.

Engaged by the Baron Von Strucker to infiltrate Thunderbolts, there remained one moment with its Blizzard fellow-member, and was a connection with Joystick. When its connection with the HYDRA was updated, there however remained allied in Thunderbolts.

However, Sanders had not given up its criminal career, and to find funds, it took again its costume of Whizzer. It flew only of the rich person or the targets which deserved to be it.

Nighthawk and Speed Demon remained side of Thunderbolts, when they were attacked by the new Sinister Squadron. Nighthawk forgave Speed Demon for the flights which it had made, but Songbird expelled it group.

Land-mark, it joined the Supreme Squadron but had the broken legs and its capacities cancelled by Joystick, then double agent of the Large Master to the center Thunderbolts. Since, Speed Demon seeks to be avenged for the Large Master, and became double agent, for Thunderbolts.
