Special gas turbine
Description
TGS , acronym of “ special gas turbine ”, is the name given to the first experimental Turbotrain built by the SNCF in 1967 starting from the EAD (diesel motorized element) X 4365 and XR 8579 tows it.
The motor coach was slightly adapted (poses of an aerodynamic round nose). The trailer was transformed into motor coach of Turbotrain of 810 kw.
Service
This prototype, which was called in beginning “TGV” before being renamed “TGS”, is at the origin of the series of the ETG (elements with gas turbine) which were brought into service on the Paris-Cherbourg relation at the beginning of the year 1970.
It made it possible during various tests to reach speeds going up to 250 km/h.
It was transformed thereafter to ensure in business service of the special voyages of groups and associations.
