Special administrative area of Sinŭiju

The special administrative Région of Sinŭiju is one (CLOSE-CROPPED) of North Korea, at the border with the China. It was created in September 2002 on a territory forming before part of Sinŭiju and the surroundings, as an attempt to involve itself in an market economy, and is directed by a self government as for the other " cities; Car-gouvernées" cities;. This special administrative Area is copied on the principle of the special administrative Régions of the Popular republic of China, that is to say HongKong and Macao, and like these last, it has its clean " law fondamentale" (기본법; Kibonpŏp).

The business man sino-Dutch Yang Bin was designated as first governor of the SHORT-NAP CLOTH in 2002. He before his taking up the duties stopped by the Chinese authorities and was however condemned to 18 years of prison for tax avoidance and other economic infringements. Although the authorities North-Korean announced the continuation of the SHORT-NAP CLOTH of Sinŭiju and its setting under supervision of the administration of the Commission of the Promotion of the Economic cooperation, the current statute of the administrative entity remains fuzzy.

The territories depending on the special administrative Area of Sinŭiju do not form a continuous territory, and for example, to pass from the town of Sinŭiju to the county of Yŏmju, territories should be crossed not forming part of the SHORT-NAP CLOTH.
