Special English

The special English , (literally: " English spécial"), of the language English E is a simplified form used by the radio VOA (" the Voice off America " , the Voice of America), a radio of State pertaining to the government of the the United States. The texts diffused in special English are read at fallback speed (25% less than the speed of normal diction), use a number of words limited (less than 2000) and exclude the idiomatic turnings.

Thanks to this simplification, people having a basic English level can include/understand the diffused emissions. The special English can also facilitate the training of English; it is one of its uses in particular in China where this English shape is increasingly popular.

The first diffusion of an emission in special English took place on October 19th, 1959.
