The spatulas (of Thierry, of Teissier) are instruments allowing the Extraction of the fetus during the childbirth.

They consist of two spoons independent one of the other. Of easy installation but of delicate handling, the spatulas make it possible to guide the expulsion of the fetal head by drawing aside the muscular obstacles in front of him. Less powerful than the Forceps, but also less traumatic, the spatulas often form part of the panoply of instruments in room of childbirth.
