The Spanish Armed forces ( Fuerzas Armadas Españolas , FFAA ), are in charge of the national defense of Spain. It are divided into three branches:

• the Army ( Ejercito de Tierra )
• the Navy ( Armada )
• the Air force ( Ejercito de Aire )

Personnel of the three weapons is integrated into the royal Garde ( Guardia Real ), responsible for the protection of the King and his family; according to the Constitution of 1978, the King of Spain east supreme leader of the Armed forces.
