Spandau is the district more in the west of Berlin in Germany. It is located at the confluences of the Havel and the Spree. The district covers a territory of 91,91  km ² and counts (in 2003) surroundings 226  100 inhabitants and remained famous for the prison of the same name which accommodated the 7 principal Nazis not condemned to dead (Rudolf Hess, Albert Speer amongst other things) of the Procès of Nuremberg.

After the Battle of Saalfeld (October 10th 1806) and that of Iéna (October 14th), Claude Victor-Perrin sign capitulation of the fortress of Spandau at the time of the continuation of the Prussian army.

Anecdote

The English group of pop music new wave Spandau Ballet took its name in reference to this district. At the time of a concert with Berlin, one of the roadies of the group indeed saw a graffiti marked Spandau Ballet and this name rained with the members of the group.
