Spaghetti

The spaghettis are a typical dish of the Italian Cuisine, consisted of long and fine pastes, with circular section. One distinguishes according to their diameter the spaghettinis (n° 3), spaghettis (n° 5) and the spaghettonis (n° 8).

In Italian, the word spaghetti of spaghetto (uncommon in French), even derived seems to him is the plural word spago which wants to say “string”, allusion to the shape of these pastes. In French, one writes “spaghettis”, the word not being used in the singular.

According to a Legend, they would have been introduced by Marco Polo on her return of China. They are indeed a traditional dish known and appreciated long time in this country. But according to other assumptions, they would have been already present in the Péninsule well before this episode. One found machines to make noodles (or spaghettis) in the ruins of Pompeï, but it is known that the silk route arrived to Italy a few tens of years before the catastrophe of Pompei, and one there with also found mirrors typically Chinese and representations of Chinese peasants with witch's hats on murals. The Arabs at that time knew also noodles, which tends to confirm that they would have followed the silk route. In October 2005 one found Chinese noodles traditional, made containing millet, which go back to -2000 before J.C on the site of Lajia in China, they are oldest traces noodles known to date.

In Italy, they are prepared according to various traditional receipts, in general without bubble, often accompanied by a Tomato sauce and strewn with grated Fromage (primarily of the Grana Padano , Parmesan or Pecorino romano ).

In the other countries, they also prepare according to multiple alternatives of receipts, often dictated by the simple research of the originality or the transposition of receipts of other types of pastes. One can find, for example, of the “spaghetti to ham”, accompanied by broad sections of Jambon, without another seasoning, or many “spaghettis with the bolognaise” (that one finds even sold out of boxes in the North of Europe), containing a kind of Sauce to the bolognaise and the spaghettis already cooked.

Spaghettis with the theater and the cinema

The spaghettis are the memorable heroes of a gag of the comedy “ Miseria E nobiltà ” (of Edoardo Scarpetta), also interpreted with the Cinéma by Totò, in which they finish at a certain point in the pockets of the protagonist pauper, who in front of hiding them, the met in sure place in its jacket.

A dish of spaghettis is also the “protagonist” of very famous and laughing sequence of the film American in Rome, with a young person Alberto Sordi in the role of the Yankee to the catches with a very Italian dish (extra-broad) of spaghettis (very) seasoned with tomato: " Spaghettis! - exclaims, sitted with table, the Nando protagonist -… me caused you, and me, I me' ve magno… " .

Because they symbolize Italy precisely, the spaghettis gave their name to a cinematographic kind, the Western spaghetti , i.e. the Western produced and directed by Italian setters in scenes - one can quote in particular among the many scenario writers who attacked this kind with various budgets, Sergio Leone (For some dollars moreover, the jump the rough one and the gangster…).
