The space program of the United States is most important. With the Russia and the China, the United States is the only country to control man sending in the space.

History

At the end of the Second world war, the United States recovered the technology of Missile S the German and captured V2 several their originators. It is under military control (within the US Army) that the United States started to be interested in space through in particular the development of V2. The first Artificial satellite, Explorer 1 was even placed orbits about it by the army. But quickly, the president Dwight David Eisenhower wanted that the American space program is under the control of a civil federal agency, thus was born the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

During a good part of the Cold war, the American program space was in competition with that of the Soviet Union and led a race to that which will go further. Although the Soviet Union was at the head space conquest at the end of the Années 1950 and during a good part of the Années 1960, in fact the United States them first sent men on the the Moon. This success gave a crushing argument to human exploration in the solar system (because mainly of the enormous costs that generates) and since the Men are confined with the terrestrial orbit.

But since the declaration of the president George W. Bush, the January 14th 2004, the United States has the ambition to turn over on the Moon, for then going on Mars.
