Semmé is a city of the North-East of the Senegal, located near the border with the Mauritania.

The commune is a sub-prefecture of the Département of Kanel in the area of Matam.
Geography
Sown is in the average valley of the Fleuve Senegal, between Matam and Bakel, a little in the south-west of Waounde. The closest localities are Valel, Gassamberi, Oulde and Aoure.Geological physics

At the time of the census of 2002, Semmé counted 4.492 inhabitants, 319 concessions and 392 households.In 2007, according to the official estimates, the population would rise with 5.573 people.
