The southernmost Francique, in German Südfränkisch (sometimes called francic Rhenish Southerner, in German South-Rheinfränkisch ) is practiced in the north of the Pays of Bade (Karlsruhe, Heidelberg, Pforzheim, Rastatt) like in Alsatian North (with Wissembourg and its entours, several thousands of speakers use of its south-Western alternative).

It belongs to the group High-German sub-group German superior from his consonant system even if from the vowel system it approaches the sub-group Means-German.

It should not be regarded as part of the Rhenish Francique and the term of southernmost Francique avoids this confusion.
