Southern pond
Southern Mare (southern sea) is a lunar Mare 603 km in diameter, located at horse on the hemispheres visible and hidden the Moon. The southern lunar basin was formed for the period of the Pre-nectarien, whereas the basaltic material which filled this last dates from the period of the Pre-imbrien. Contrary to the majority of the lunar seas, this sea has an irregular surface, marked many craters of impact.
The coordinated selenographic of this sea are 38.9° S, 93.0° E. For the favorable periods of Libration S, the southern sea can be entirely seen since the ground.
