Southern League Football the First Division
The Southern Football League the First Division is an English championship of Non-league football organized by the Southern Football League and covering the areas of the Center and the South-west of the England. Created into 1894 under the name of Southern League , it was divided on several occasions into two hens and disappeared even from 1979 with 1982 after the creation of the Alliance First League. Since 2004 the competition occupies the seventh rank of the pyramidal system English on the same level as the Isthmian Football League the First Division and Northern First League the First Division.
At the end of the season, the champion and the winner of the eliminatory series (second in the fifth place) are promoted in Conference North or Conference South, according to their geographical location. The last four clubs are relegated to the eighth level of the pyramidal system, in Southern Football League Division One South & West or Southern Football League Division One the Midlands.
Before 2004, the champion was promoted in Football Conference with the champions of Isthmian Football League the First Division and Northern First League the First Division. Of 1985 with 2004, the championship was positioned on the eighth level of the pyramidal system before assembling of a row during the reorganization of the league in 2004.
