Since 1997, the National anthem of South Africa is the combination of the old national anthem adopted in 1927, Die Stem van Suid Afrika with the popular African song adopted by the movements anti Apartheid, Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika.

The anthem is sung into 5 of the 11 official languages of South Africa.

Song

Xhosa

Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika

Maluphakanyisw' uphondo lwayo,

Zulu

Yizwa imithandazo yethu,

Nkosi sikelela, thina lusapho lwayo.

Sesotho

Morena boloka setjhaba its heso,

O fedise dintwa the matshwenyeho,

O boloke, O boloke setjhaba its heso,

Setjhaba its South Afrika - South Afrika.

Afrikaans (Die Stem)

Uit die blou van onse hemel,

Uit die diepte van ons see,

Oor ons ewige gebergtes,

Waar die kranse antwoord gee,

English (new adaptation of Die Stem/The Cal)

Sounds the cal to like together,

And united we shall stand,

Let custom live and strive for freedom,

In South Africa our Land.

French Version

That God blesses Africa, Can its horn rise towards the skies, That God hears our prayers And blesses us, us its children of Africa.

That God blesses our nation, And that it removes any war and any suffering, Preserve, preserve our nation, Preserve our South-African nation, South Africa.

Resonant since our skies of azure, And our deep seas, Beyond our eternal mounts Where the echo rebounds.

The call to the unit resounds, And they is plain which we will be, Let us live and fight so that freedom triumphs In our nation, South Africa.
