Sourdeval

Sourdeval is a common French, located in the department of the Manche and the area Basse-Normandie.

Not to confuse with Sourdeval-the-Wood (zip code: 50450). The old name of the commune is Sourdeval-the-Bars .

Geography

The city is located in the South-east of the English Channel halfway between Caen and Rennes.

History

The city was destroyed during the bombardments of 1944. to see testimony on its release

The blazon of Sourdeval is described as follows: Of hooped Gold of sand to the canton of Mouths.

This blazon draws its origin from the family of Sourdeval, a branch of the family of Bertram de Verdun which carried: Of hooped Gold of sand to the quarter of sand.

Economy

Sourdeval was in 1948 the place of creation of the company Guy Degrenne. The factory was transferred partly in 1967 to Vire. It counted 200 employees in 1984. It closed in September 2002.
