Soultz-under-Forests is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace. July 1st, 1982, the commune amalgamates with the village of Hohwiller.

The common one belongs to the Regional natural park of the Vosges of North.

History

  • Georg Keller, born in 1557 with Wildberg, Wurtemberg, 1582-1622, wire of Andreas Cellarius (theologist). It had to move because of the disorders of the war. (Wegen den Kriegswirren musste er wegziehen). He died on June 3rd, 1631 with Soultz-under-Forests, 74 years old.
  • Friedrich Keller, wire of the precedent, teacher with Soultz and Pasteur with Drachenbronn, 1623-before 1635, he was Pasteur with Wernersbeg, village in the south of Annweiler amndt Trifels, Palatinat, from where he was expelled in 1635, then was Pasteur with Ober and Niederbetschdorf 1635+1651, also Pasteur with Hatten, 1648+1651.
  • Johann Burckard Gauckler, of Mötzingen, Wurtemberg, 1622-1635.
  • Hieronimus Bancowitz, Pasteur of Hohwiller, managed all the area of 1635-64. Its parishes went from Roedern until Lembach.

Economy

The Bureau of geological and mining research leads an experimentation of exploitation of the geothermal energy to Soultz-under-Forests. For that three Forage 5000 depth m S are dug.

  • Jean-Georges Rauch, organist of the cathedral of Strasbourg during the restitution to the catholic worship on October 24th, 1681. Deceased on August 1st, 1710.
