Sotho of North

The sotho of North (or Sesotho its Leboa ), is one of the official languages of South Africa, and is spoken by 4  208  980 people (census of 2001), mainly in the provinces of Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.

The sotho of North belongs to the group of the Langues bantoues, itself family member of the nigéro-Congolese Langues. It is close to the Tswana and the Sotho of the South (sesotho). It does not constitute a single language, but a continuum of narrowly related languages, among which the sepedi (or pedi) is most important.
