Sotchi (in Russian Сочи) is a town of Russia located on the Black Sea, in the Russian part of the the Caucasus and in the Krai de Krasnodar. Its population rises with: 328014 inhabitants in 2006.
This balneal City, called the “ Riviera russe ”, very attended, a certain historical importance of 1929 with 1952 had. It was then the estival vacation resort of Joseph Stalin and many direct collaborators of this last. It will accommodate the Winter Olympics of 2014.
Sotchi profits from a surprisingly hot climate for its latitude: the temperatures in winter seldom fall below zero. The temperatures of summer are on average between 26 °C and 32°C with extremes exceeding the 40°C.
One meets in Sotchi of varied nationalities: Russian, but also Ukrainian, Belorusse, Arménie NS, Géorgiens, Greek, Estonia NS.
Sotchi and its neighborhoods (Adler, Dagomys, Krasnaïa Poliana) remain appraisal of the Russians today. The president Vladimir Poutine has a Datcha there.
To carry it, the Russian authorities promised massive investments estimated at 10 billion euros to make of Sotchi a complex of winter sports of world class and to connect this city of the Black Sea to the mountains of the the Caucasus. The Winter Olympics of Sotchi will be held from February 7th to 23rd 2014. The sporting tests will proceed on two sites :
• Olympic Park of Sotchi (“ complex côtier ”): Hockey, Speed skating, Figure skating, Shorts-track, Curling.
• Krasnaïa Poliana (“ complex of montagne ”): Bobsleigh, Skeleton, Toboggan, Biathlon, Ski touring, Alpine skiing, Snowboard, Ski jump, Combined Scandinavian.
