Sorting Ralpachen
Tri Ralpachen (Wylie: Khri gtsug lde brtsan ), died in 838, was the sovereign 41e of the dynasty Yarlung and reigned of 815 with 838. It is one of the Three Kings religious of the Tibet with Songtsen Gampo and Trisong Detsen.
Buddhism
According to the History of Dharma of Dudjom Rinpoché, Tri Ralpachen was one of five wire of Mutik Tsepo, itself third wire of Trisong Detsen, and it was said that it was an emanation of Vajrapani. It was extremely devoted with the lesson of the Bouddha and is famous to have built a thousand of temples.It invited many Indian well-read men , whose Surendrabodhi, Shilendrabodhi and Danashila, and say to them thus that with the Masters scholars Tibetans such as Ratnarakshita and Dharmadashila, just as with the lotsawa (translator) Jñanasena:
“When the lesson was represented at the time of my ancestors, the well-read men used many unknown terms of the language Tibetan. Change those which contradict the lesson or the grammatical rules, and those which are difficult to include/understand, by preferring terms familiar of the language spoken Tibetan. Revise this way the translations of the texts of the Mahayana and Hinayana. ”.
Consequently, they revised the translations, that of the Prajnaparamita inter alia. The direction of the Tantra S interns which cannot, in any case, being seized by the ordinary people, they did not revise them.
Policy
The reign of Sorting Ralpachen was characterized by conflicts with the state Ouïghour in North. The Tibetans attacked the Ouïghour territory into 816 and in their turn were attacked into 821. After an incursion Tibetan limited in Chinese territory, the Chinese promised matrimonial alliances with the Ouïghours leaders and Tibetans. These marriages, as well as a treaty sino-Tibetan, were finalized into 821. This fact is recorded on stone pillars with Lhassa, of which one is vis-a-vis the Jokhang. Peace was assured ainsy for almost two decades. Inside the Tibet, the political competitions intensified, in particular because of the growing influence of the Buddhist monasteries and the opposition of the Bön. Tri Ralpachen was assassinated in 838 by his/her brother, Langdharma, savagely opposed to Buddhism. This last persecuted the monks and dismantled the institutions, before being in its turn assassinated by a monk who would have hidden an arc under his clothing at the time of a spectacle of dances.
