Sophie Daumier , of her true name Elisabeth Hugon , French actress , born the November 24th 1934 with Boulogne-sur-Mer, deceased the December 31st 2003 with Paris.
Biography
Girl of the type-setter of classical music Georges Hugon, Sophie Daumier follows studies of ballet dancing to the Châtelet (Paris) and courses of drawing. At 16 years, it leaves in round abroad with a troop ballet Cancan, under the pseudonym of Betty Hugon. Equipped with a physique to the Brigitte Bardot, Sophie Daumier is committed with the cabaret of the Eve News as whimsical singer, under the pseudonym of Betty Laurent. She becomes actress of theater thereafter, after having followed the lesson of Pierre Dux and Raymond Girard.She begins with the cinema in 1955, in " Paris canaille" , under the pseudonym of Betty Daumier. With the beginning of the year 1960, it has a connection with the rocker Vince Taylor. In 1963, it turns " Dragees with the poivre" , musical film, at the sides of Claude Brasseur and Francis Blanche, and where it meets Guy Bedos, already crossed with the theater in Cyrano of Bergerac. At that time, it has a 7 year old son, Philippe, who sings besides one of the songs of film, " Lili Gribouille" , and that Guy Bedos will recognize later. Philippe will be reached later consequently disease that his mother.
She really bores with the theater in " Patate" , of Marcel Achard, which she plays during six years. It is at that time that, on the authorities of Marcel Achard, it chooses a new first name, Sophie, and a final name of scene, Daumier, name of young girl of its mother.
Guy Bedos and Sophie Daumier finally will link their destinies at the time of the spectacle " Milord Arsouille". They marry in 1965. Their common career will last ten years. They interpret together many sketches, written by Jean-Loup Dabadie, in particular “the dredger” (1972), which was an immense popular success and which remains the reference of their duets, “Head-digs” or “holidays with Marrakech”. Sophie Daumier expressed her immense talents of actress thus, composing with ease of the characters of young woman in turn funny, plague, ironic, tender, grimaçante or sulky person, in counterpoint of her face of angel.
Sophie Daumier and Guy Bedos divorce in 1977. Sophie Daumier continues her career on her side, playing in particular in " A history simple" (1978), of Claude Sautet.
Two years later, it publishes tinted memories of bitterness: “Speaks in my heart, my head is sick”. Attack, like his/her mother and her son, by the Chorée de Huntington, genetic disease which involves an irreversible neuronal degeneration, it is forced to reduce its activities. In 1988, during the musical comedy " Starmania ", it launches a call so that one comes to assistance of the victims of this disease.
Died the night of New Year's Eve, its funerals are celebrated with the church Saint-Roch (Paris), parish of the artists, on January 1st, 2004. Sophie Daumier is buried with the Cimetière of the Father-Lachaise (45e division), under a simple cement plate, between the burials of Marie Trintignant and Gilbert Bécaud.
