Sophie Body-Gendrot
Sophie Body-Gendrot (1946 -), docteure in political science, is professor with the university of Sorbonne-Paris IV and researcher attached to the sociological Research center on the right and the penal institutions (CNRS - CESDIP - Ministère of Justice).
It directs, in collaboration with Jacques Carré, the Research center on the urban studies in the anglophone world (University of the Sorbonne - Paris IV).
It is in charge of seminar in third cycle with the Institut of political studies, and with the National school of administration.
Political economist and americanist (specialist in the United States), his work tackle from the comparative point of view the question for the modes of regulation of the urban stakes in France, England and with the the United States.
The various research projects in which it currently takes part more particularly explore the problems of the representations and perceptions of the city, poverty and urban exclusions, the modes of integration of the immigrant populations, the management and the prevention of criminality.
Its work aims at including/understanding the bonds between the Urban violences, discriminations economic and social and immigrant youth.
The last works which it published particularly analyze the urban policies in glance of violence.
