Sophia of Mello Breyner Andresen (Oporto, November 6th 1919 - Lisboa, July 2nd 2004) was one of most important the Poètesses Portuguese of the XXe century.

Biography

Marry Francisco Sousa Tavares. Mother of Miguel Sousa Tavares Born in Oporto from an aristocratic family, engaged politically on the left, it was of all the combat which carried the democracy to Portugal. Poet above all, the " great lady of the Portuguese literature " is also the author of simple and limpid tales which, by their richness and their formal beauty, allure the readers of any age. Distinguished with the Price Camões in 1999, it became the first Portugaise writer to receive the most important rank of the literature of Portuguese language.
