Huey " Sonny" Simmons (born the August 4th 1933 in Sicily Island in Louisiana) is a saxophonist of Jazz.

Sony Simmons has grandei with Oakland in California where it initially learned how to play of the Cor anglais. At 16 years, it was put at the alto saxophone which became its privileged instrument. It is one of the rare musicians of jazz to use the cor anglais like instrument soloist.

The beginning of the year 1960 he played like Sideman with Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy and Prince Lasha before recording his own discs.
