Sony-Center
The Sony-Center located on the Potsdamer Platz belongs to the new most impressive districts of construction of Berlin. It is the work of the German-American architect Helmut Jahn and its construction lasted of 1996 with 2000.
Sony Center presents a transparent architecture out of steel and glass being composed of eight elements.
The buildings gather around a large oval forum ( Sony Plaza ) with coffees, restaurants, shops and cinemas. The unit is covered by only one roof glazed in bâtière . It is about a construction inclined in wire and bars of Acier which seems to float for on the place. The roof is a realization of engineering of the first quality and is integrated well astonishment in the landscape of the roofs of the Kulturforum close with the buildings to the National library ( Staatsbibliothek ) and to the Philharmonie.
The part giving on Potsdamer Platz presents a skyscraper glazed in the form of half-circle; with a height of 103 meters and 26 floors of offices, it is about the highest construction of Potsdamer Platz.
