Sonsonate

Sonsonate is a city of the El Salvador, on the river Sensunapan. It is the Chef-lieu Département of Sansonate and its population was into 2006 of 110.501 inhabitants.
The city was founded in 1552 under the name of Villa of Santísima Trinidad de Sonsonate , according to the Amerindian Zezontlatl , meaning “the 400 sources”. It was briefly in 1834 the capital of the plain Provinces of Central America, before this one is not transferred to San Salvador. Connected by railway to the port of Acajutla, it is one of principal centers manufacturing of El Salvador.
