Sonatrach

Sonatrach is a public Entreprise Algérie and a major actor of the Oil industry.

Activities

Sonatrach was made up to exploit the resources Hydrocarbure S of the country. Its diversified activities touch all the line production: exploration, exploitation, transport, refining. It diversified in the Pétrochimie and the desalination of sea water.

Organization

Sonatrach is the first company of Algeria. The company, which employs approximately 50.000 worker (120 000 with its subsidiary companies), produced with it only 30% of GNP of Algeria. It annually produces (2005) 232.3 million Mtoe, including 11,7% (24 million Mtoe) for the interior market.

Its turnover (2006) rises to 42,8 billion dollars. First company of Africa by its turnover, it doubled this one in 3 years thanks to the flight of the course of the crude.

Place in the world

Sonatrach is the first company of Africa, with a sales turnover more than three times superior to that of Old Mutual, classified second. It is the 12th oil group on a world level, 2nd exporter of GNL and LPG and 3rd natural gas exporter.
