Sonatas for piano of Enesco

The Sonatas for piano , opus 24, of Georges Enesco are two; the opus 24 n° 2, remained with the state of drafts, not having never been published.

Sonata n° 1 in minor F sharp COp 24 n° 1

It was completed during the summer 1924 and is dedicated to Emil Frey. First with Bucharest in November 1925 under the fingers of the musician took place himself. Work is characterized by the introspective spirit and sometimes unchained its first part, hammered promptness of its central movement and by the almost mystical serenity of its final slow movement.

The sonata is made up of three movements and its execution takes approximately half an hour.

  • Allegro molto moderato E engraves

  • long-lived Presto
  • Andante molto espressivo

The partition is published in the Enoch editions.

Sonata n° 3 in major D COp 24 n° 3

It is posterior of almost 10 years to the first sonata (made up between January 1934 and May 1935 and contemporary of its second sonata for violoncello and piano. It is dedicated to Marcel Ciampi. Its creation took place, Salle Gaveau, on December 6th 1938 by this last.

Its structure is more traditional (movements rapid-slow-rapid) and of nature merrier than that of the first sonata. The folklore, sublimated, is always present. Its perfect invoice makes unexplainable the little of eagerness of the pianists in his connection, in spite of the example given by Dinu Lipatti.

The sonata is made up of three movements and its execution requires a little more than twenty minutes.

  • Long-lived idiot brilliance

  • Andantino cantabile
  • Allegro idiot spirito

The partition is published in the editions Salabert.
