Something Corporate
Something Corporate is a group of Piano rock'n'roll originating in Orange County in California having for leader Andrew McMahon. Whereas they categorized their own music like pertaining to mobility Piano rock'n'roll, the industry of the disc classified them in the sub-genera of the Pop punk. They are currently under contract with Drive-Thru Records and Geffen Records.
History
In September 1998, the singer and pianist Andrew McMahon, the bass player Kevin " Clutch" page as well as the beater Brian Ireland, founding members of the group Left Young stag, amalgamates with the guitarists Josh Partington and Reuben Hernandez to give rise to Something Corporate. The name of the group is an ironic reference to the lack of interest which they test for musical marketing. The group independently carried out a first album demonstration entitled Ready… Station-wagon in September 2000. March 27th, 2001, Something Corporate announces a change of size in the composition of the group, indeed, Reuben Hernandez leaves the group to be definitively replaced by William Such.
The quintet signs little time afterwards at Drive-Thru Records which will carry out their first official album, the EP Audioboxer on October 2nd, 2001 which will be the subject of live with the store Tower Records as well as an appearance in the program televised The Late Show on February 25th, 2002. The critics applauded the EP (containing the piece " in particular; Yew u.a. Jordan" in the clip of which one can see Chris Owen the actor of American Pie) and a clause in their contract with Drive-Thru Records leads the group to a signature at MCA which will amalgamate with later becoming Geffen Records. May 21st, 2002 is marked by the exit of their first complete album Leaving Through The Window with pieces such as " I Woke Up in has Car" , and " Punk Princess" Rock'n'roll;. The album reaches the first place of Billboard Heatseekers chart like of Billboard Alternative New Artist chart and the 101ème place of Billboard 200 albums chart whereas Punk Princess Rock'n'roll reaches the 33ème place of the U.K. Individual Chart. To fill the difference between the publication of Leaving Through The Window and of their next album, Something Corporate carried out a video of a half hour entitled has Year in the Life in November 2002 as well as a compilation of rare pieces, Songs for Silent Movies , published in Japan in May 2003.
October 21st, 2003, the album North appears and will run out with 42.000 specimens. Exhausted to have passed nearly one year whole on the road for their round, the group decides to make a pause during the summer 2004 by ensuring their public that this last will not be permanent. During this rupture, Josh Partington founds the group Firescape and records a EP of five titles Rearden' S Conscience in 2005. Andrew McMahon on its side carries out an album entitled Everything in Transit under the name of Jack' S Mannequin in August 2005, album which will be based on melodies written with the piano by this last with in particular the participation of Tommy Lee, the beater of Mötley Crüe on seven of the 11 titles which the album comprises.
