Genesis and composition

George Harrison composed Something during the sessions of recording of the white album, in October 1968. It benefitted from a pause and settled with the Piano in Studio 1 of Abbey Road, then free, while Paul McCartney recorded “Overdub S” in studio 2.

The two sources of the inspiration for its more famous strolls were his wife, Pattie Boyd with which this text seems to be addressed - and at the sides of which it shows in the video Clip of the song - and a piece of James Taylor, Something In The Way She Moves , title which coupled with “attracts me like No other to coil” became the first sentence of the song of George Harrison. James Taylor, American artist, were at the time under contract with Apple, and had recorded Something In Ihe Way She Moves on October 3rd, 1968 with the Trident studios with London, while Beatles worked at the same place on another song of George, Savoy Truffle .

In 1999, the Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI) classified Something 17th songs the most interpreted with the XXe Century, with five million performances in all. November 29th, 2002, one year after the death of George Harrison, McCartney and Eric Clapton interpreted Something at the time of the concert homage organized by Clapton to the Royal Albert Hall of London, the Concert for George . Their interpretation was nominated for the Grammy Award of best pop collaboration with song. Bob Dylan also sang Something in homage to Harrison after his death. In 2004, Something arrived at the 273e place of the classification of the magazine Rolling Stone of the 500 greater songs of all times. Paul McCartney also took again the song, while being accompanied simply by a Ukulélé, lasting her rounds Back in the US in 2002 and Back in the World in 2003; as George Harrison liked this instrument, these recoveries were each time acclaimed by the public.
