Somers (Victoria)

Somers is a small town close to Melbourne in the State of Victoria in Australia, located in the south-east of the Péninsule of Mornington. The local government is the Comté of Mornington Peninsula.

The city holds its name of a governor of Victoria, the subdivision of Somers was born in 1925, the same year the Somers Primary School opened. The current post office opened in 1927.

Geography

The south of Somers extends until Western Port more known under name Western Port Bay . The city Cowes on Phillip Island can be seen of each Somers beach by all times.
Le northern extends on broad opening for agriculture. Further in north the suburbs extend from Bittern and Hastings. In the east is the suburbs and military base, HMAS Cerberus. The zone framing it is a Bush and is used for exercises of drive. Or the base meets Somers on the coast, the beaches are closed and the flora is especially composed of bulky coastal bushes. To the west, separaté by the Lord Somers Camp and The Coolart Wetlands, the locality extends from Balnarring.

The east coast divided into 3 Beach S distinct:

The Community

Somers has an elementary school, a park for caravan, a general store ( The Store ), a local fire protection organization ( Country Fire Authority ), some tennis court, the Coolart Wetlands and Lord Somers Camp , and various parks, gardens and reserves. There is no center shopping, neither of commercial street, nor of supermarket. The general store making office of supermarket and it is thus possible to make its races with Somers that of going to the localities close to Balnaring or Hastings. However for all the other kinds of business services, Balnaring and Hastings are the ideal places to find which one seeks.

Somers lodges The Somers Yacht Club or is the WSC Marine Rescue Facility , which contributes to the rescue of the life of when a boat runs or that a swimmer is attracted with far.

Environment

It is not unusual to see Koala S in Somers and the suburbs are very known for its Koala Walk in the Foreshore Reserve . Lr grondement distinctive of the Koalas can be heard each night by the whole of the residences. The travellers are warned to have to pay attention, the koalas cross the roads regularly and are accustomed to the noise of the cars.

Development

Currently, a firm selected Simmscorp repurchased the Park with Caravan of Somers. The new owners started to announce the prices of a piece for the caravans, approximately 25 717,89€ ($35.000) the unit. The park with caravan is full most of the time with the permanent residents and the occasional ones, however the park saw some as of its customers permanent leaving while the units of grounds were sold to settle in villas. Certain residents not being able more to pay the annual cost of the park leaves this one.
