Age off Empires is a Strategy game in real-time which proceeds during the Antiquité created by Microsoft and Ensemble Studios in 1997.
The series
Age off Empires indicates also the series initiated by this play which comprises three shutters: Old off Empires , Old off Kings (or Old off Empires II), which covers the whole of the Moyen-âge and Age off Empires III , which occurs during the time colonialist from 1492 to 1850.-
Age off Empires has an extension: The Small channel off Rome , in which Roman campaigns make their appearance.

Old off Empires II: The Age off Kings also lays out of a baptized extension The Conquerors and adding several new people such as the Aztec ones, the Spaniards or Huns as well as new campaigns and new technologies.

In 2003 off leaves Age Mythology , which is not the continuation of Old off Empires II. This play off adds a magic dimension compared to the Age Empires : the action proceeds again during the Antiquité and it is from now on possible to form mythical units. Three civilizations of the play are the Scandinaves, the Egyptiens, and the Greek, each one with their gods and their creatures (92 units including 33 mythological), and their magics (peace, curses, fireballs, etc). One incarnates a young hero who will cross these three civilizations to the continuation of a malfaisant god. A named mini-extension The Golden Gift leaves then and adds an additional search on the gold mines of the dwarves. This last series is entirely in 3D contrary to the precedents opus. The Titans , an extension, leaves to the end of the year 2003: she adds the people of the Atlantes, and makes it possible to play with large creatures called Titans.

Fine 2005, Age off Empires III left. This time it is a question of evolving/moving during the colonial time of 1492 to 1850. The play takes again the concept of the precedents while adding that of the metropolis and the experiment. The play is clearly improved from the graphic point of view and uses the physical engine of the company Havok.

on October 20th 2006 left Age off Empires III: The War Chiefs . This extension is based on Amerindian civilizations, such as the Iroquois, the Aztèques and the Sioux. The great innovation also comes owing to the fact that one can revolt against his metropolis and become independent.

Gameplay
The play is in isometric 3D and proposes a great number of civilizations having the same buildings but different aspects. Each civilization has a different technological tree which enables him to create various units (for example, the Carthaginians can create elephants and galères flamers whereas the Romans do not have access to the elephant but have the trirème with catapult).
It is inspired, for the first time for a strategy game real-time, concept of age and evolution of the play Civilization : the player must pass the ages (like the age of the stone or the age of iron for example) to resolve certain units, and to pass from an age to another is very expensive in resources, which brought a very new direction to the gameplay of the plays of strategy in real-time or STR. Namely that the programmers took as a starting point the total play annihilation to create the gameplay.
