Solsbury Hill is a song written by the British musician Peter Gabriel, published in 1977 on its first album, Peter Gabriel (Because) .
She tells a spiritual experiment at the top of the mountain Solsbury Hill in the Somerset, in England. Peter Gabriel wrote this song shortly after to have left the progressive rock group Genesis (in which he was singer and founding member), to explain the reasons of his departure. This song is its first simple in career. This one reached signal 20 with the the United Kingdom and signal 70 with the Billboard Hot 100.
It was used in several films, as for the soundtrack of the film a sky color vanilla (Vanilla sky) in 2001, and 2004 for the film In good company .
In 2003, the British pop duet Erasure took again Solsbury Hill which appeared into individual and was classified n°10 sales in Signal 40 British at the beginning of year 2003. This recovery appears in the album Other People' S Songs of the group Erasure.
