Soliman Pasha

Soliman Pasha ( Süleyman Paşa or Soliman Al Fransawi Pasha ), of his true name, Joseph Anthelme Sap , born with Lyon in July 1788, died in the Cairo the March 12th 1860.

It was a former officer of the Large army of Napoleon Bonaparte. It converts with the Islam and it is recruited by the Egyptian army to reform it on the model Européen. It becomes généralissime Egyptian army in 1833.

It makes a return in France in 1845, it will be made large officer in the order of the Légion of honor by the king Louis Philippe.

It Marie with Maria Myriam Hanem who gives him three children, Nazli (grandmother of the queen Nazli mother of the king Farouk), Aasma and Mahadi.

There are a statue of him with the military museum of Cairo, and a bust with the prefecture of Lyon.
