History

It is in 1919 that Ferdinand de Vazeilles creates the Fonderie of precision of Nanterre which becomes one of most famous of Europe for the Moulage under special material pressure applied to the car and aviation (Cylinder head, Carburizing, etc).

It with the idea in 1930 to use metal injected to produce technical toys which until there were especially out of sheet. He thinks that it is a pledge of robustness and gives the name of Solido to the first vehicles which are manufactured in Zamac and leave in 1933. It is of transformable toys and not about miniature reproduction of real vehicles.

The Solido entity is created in 1937 and is devoted only to the toys in zamac.

The structural components are the body, the frame on which one inserts the axles (motorized or not by spring engine) and fixed by two screws at the body.

It is in 1957 that Solido begins the manufacture of models of real sporting vehicles on a traditional scale of the 1/43e: the first model is the Jaguar Mans with axles assembled on a spring leaf giving the impression of a real suspension.

In 1960, Solido launches a “military series” which will be a great success thereafter. One of the characteristics of certain vehicles is that the articulated caterpillars are they-also realized in fine parts of zamac.

Starting from the Years 1960, the sporting models of Solido gradually give up the side toy where the quality of reproduction counted less than the ludic aspect, for a very realistic production of the prototypes of the type 24 hours of Mans , respecting strictly the shapes and the proportions of the cars, thanks to the frequent use of the copies of the plans of factory provided by the manufacturers.

In 1970, the series “Old of Gold” reproduces vehicles of luxury of between two wars. A Prestige series on the scale 1/18ème appears during the Années 1980.

The company is repurchased by Majorette in 1977 (except the military series), then will enter the group Smoby at the time of the repurchase of Majorette in 2003.
