Solidarity AIDS

Solidarité AIDS is a Association law 1901 created in 1992 by Luc Barruet and Eric Elzière with an aim of fighting against the AIDS. She sensitizes youth against this virus by organizing various cultural events of which the Solidays (created in 1999), the Night of the zapping (1996), the Night of humor (2001), or the demonstration One of fout not (2006)

Little sister of the Night of Zapping , it leaves in round in 2001 through France. She is based on best humor stamp Canal+ (Deschiens, of Caunes and Garcia, Poelvoorde, Jamel, the Puppets, Null the…).

Two rounds took place, the first in 2001 and the last in 2003. To this occasion, it gives birth in 2003 to a DVD sold with more 100 000 specimens.

The Solidays

A militant festival

Since its launching, the festival stresses also the militant character of the event. A broad part of the hippodrome is always devoted to the associative villages (a hundred French associations and about thirty foreign delegations). One thus counts a broad panel of expensive African associations to association (see the redistribution of the generated profiles, Ci below) and Frenchwomen who deal mainly with the assistance with the patients. One finds there also many stands intended for the young public of the festival, the Mairie of Paris with prevention tobacco, HIV and Drogues or the gendarmerie for the Traffic control…

Finally association benefits from this festival to organize forums/debates on the topic touching with the virus of the AIDS (situation of the prevention in France, meets with members of association…).

Thanks to its strong frequentation, Solidays profits, each summer, of a strong media exposure which enables him to make resound its claims at the national level and thus shows with each edition that the young people feel also concerned by the epidemic of AIDS.

Lifting of funds

Officially, the whole of the benefit is transferred with associations. However, all has a cost, and, in order to reduce that of the festival to the maximum, association can count on:

its some 800 Voluntary S ensuring the organization and the safety of the festival;
its “protis” (“professional gratis”, in other words “free”), Contract workers bringing, in addition to their time, their knowledge technical;
its many partners like the Postal bank, the area Ile-de-France or Peugeot (ready of cars)…

Quid of the artists? According to the furnished informations by association, the artists agree to decrease their seal but of the expenses of expenses are granted to them (in order to cover their expenses of round).

A thing is sure: with the budget of the festival alone, association would be unable to make come artists of reputation as many.

Thanks to all these economies, association could release 1,2 million euros of clear benefits at the time of the edition 2006.

The distribution of the collected money is simple: 50 % with French associations and 50 % with local foreign associations.

Solidarity AIDS, rather than to finance the research (some other associations doing it already very well), chose to center its financings on the assistance with the patients and Orphelin S of the AIDS and with the prevention.

The parade: One of fout not

Organized on May 21st, 2006, the large parade of Solidarity AIDS marked the launching of its countryside One of fout not to avoid that one forgets, 20 years after its discovery, the devastations of the AIDS in Africa. Left the Place of the Bastille, a convoy of 10 mobile scenes crossed Paris on four kilometers in direction of the Invalides. As always of many artists answered present at go. One thus could find Tiken Jah Fakoly, Cali, Bob Sinclar or the Saïan Supa Crew under the beating rain of Paris. In spite of these poor climatic conditions, success was with go. The organizers asserted 500 000 spectators (against only 80 000 for the police force). The media echo was also with go.

9 months after the launching of the countryside One of fout not , association launches the Fonds Solidarity AIDS Africa.

The Funds Solidarity AIDS Africa

February 6th, 2007, Solidarité AIDS launches for the first time a call to the gifts. This call, sponsored by Yannick Noah and Vanessa Paradis, is marked by a dinner and a concert for the contributors of the funds. Those thus could see on scene the two godfathers of the operation, accompanied by many other voluntary artists like Jean-Louis Aubert, Cali, M or Nicola Sirkis. Association hopes to collect 1 million euros in 2007 to abound its project.

Other actions

To collect funds, Solidarité AIDS uses also other means throughout the year.

The sale of red ribbons

That starts with the sale of red ribbons organized throughout the year at the entry of the theaters of Paris. Association regularly sends to it teams of voluntary charged to give red ribbons in exchange of a free contribution of each one. This action belongs to the considerable money re-entries of association.

Anecdotes

Antoine de Caunes agreed to become Honorary president of Solidarity AIDS when Luc Barruet, being made pass for a deliveryman in order to pass the safety of Canal+, gave him him even flowers on the plate of Nowhere elsewhere .

During the first years, the seat of association was established in the Chambre of good of Luc Barruet.

To become voluntary

To become Voluntary at Solidarity AIDS, it is enough to contact association by its Web site or Téléphone.

The cycle of adhesion to association is simple. Very new member must take part in two meetings:

the first consists of the presentation of association;
the second, animated by a Doctor, milked HIV in its globality.

Once these two meetings carried out, it becomes voluntary association.

Each voluntary must discharge an annual contribution (15 € in 2006), allowing, inter alia, to pay the insurance.
