Solidage of Canada

The solidage of Canada ( Solidago canadensis ), also called sheaf-of gold, is a plant with flowers like the solidages and of the family of the astéracées .

Description

The solidage of Canada can be confused with another solidage also very present in France and Somalia: the giant Solidage .

The size of giant Solidage generally does not exceed 120 cm. It is smaller than the solidage of Canada which measures from 60 to 250 cm in height. The giant solidage has a glabrous stem up to the level of the flowers, often reddish, whereas the stem of the solidage of Canada green is gilded and hairy (slightly with densément pubescent) starting from the first sheets.

The solidage of Canada although considered as an invasive species is however less competing and dangerous that the giant solidage.
