The massive of Ngorongoro is a mountainous zone of volcanic origin of the north of the Tanzania.

Framed by the Flat of Serengeti in the North-West, the Lake Natron in north, the Lake Manyara in the south and the Lake Eyasi in south-east, the solid mass is included in the Aire of conservation of Ngorongoro and belonged to the District of Ngorongoro of the area of Arusha.

The solid mass owes its name with the Cratère of Ngorongoro which is in its center. The other principal craters and tops are the Cratère Ela Naibori, the Mont Kitumbeine, the Mont Froze, the Mont Loolmalasin, the Ol Doinyo Lengaï and the Collines of Meto.

These volcanos and volcanic craters were formed with the favor of the opening of the Eastern branch of the East-African rift and are registered between two directed Horst S south-west-north-is.

Only notable relief of the area, this solid mass stops the Pluie S coming from south-east and the east at the time from both Mousson S, attracting then the wild fauna at the time of the migrations or a permanent way. On this restricted space, with the exceptionally favorable climatic conditions, cohabit the majority of the animal species of Africa.
