Sole

In the Greek Mythology, Sole (in Greek old Σεμέλη / Sole ), girl of Cadmos (the founder of Thèbes) and of Harmony, is one of the amantes of Zeus.

Myth

Héra, jealous, borrowed the features of Béroé, the nurse of Sole, and advised with its rival to require of Zeus to appear to him in all its glory. Terrified, but not daring to refuse because he had promised to him to grant all to him that she would wish, Zeus was thus presented in front of her with her lightning and its flashes: in one moment the unhappy one was struck down. The god however had time to withdraw, of the center of Sole, Dionysos, the son whom it had designed.

Thereafter, Dionysos was to find with Lerne, guided by Prosymnos, a road towards the Enfers. It tore off his mother with the kingdom of the Shades, and transported it in the Olympe, where she became immortal under the name of Thyoné .

Sole is a misadventure of Ζεμελώ / Zemelố , the goddess Phrygie nne of the Earth, celebrated in spring.
