- is quoted in 1151 under the name of " Chaunnes" in a charter of the Abbey of Quincy, then in 1219 under the name of " Cheonnaium" on a cartulaire of the Abbey of Molesme and in 1381 under the name of " Chaonnes" (Faith and homages paid by several lords; current name " Channes" appears as from the 17th century
