Solange Gemayel (born in 1949) is the widow of Béchir Gemayel, founder of the militia of the Lebanese Forces and former president of the Lebanese Republic, elected in August 1982. Béchir Gemayel is assassinated the September 14th 1982 by a member of the nationalist Parti social Syrian, before his official nomination.
Mother of three children, Maya (assassinated some time before the assassination of his/her father), Nadim and Youmna, it continuously adopted a political line anti-Syrian woman. In 2005, it is presented to the legislative elections, the first since the Syrian withdrawal, for the station Maronite of Beirut. At the end of a few weeks of political negociations, the other candidates desist in his favor, with the support of forces of the Alliance of March 14th and the leader of the Running of the Future Saad Hariri. She is elected of office and becomes member of the parliamentary majority.
