Sokcho

Sokcho is a provincial town of Gangwon in South Korea. It is located at the North-eastern end of the country, close to the Mer of Japan (Korean: Sea of the East).

Geography

It is very known to be with the doors of the mountainous solid mass of the Seorak-san and its national park which Korean appreciates enormously. It is in the north of the parallel 38éme and thus also attracts many tourists who will see the Demilitarized zone (DMZ) between the two Corées.

To the opening of the airport, near, of Yangyang, Sokcho had its own airport, with connections towards Seoul. The city attracts many Korean and foreign tourists, not only thanks to the Massif of Seorak-san but also because of the fishery products. On the port, one can make roast and taste fish and seafood chosen in a fish pond on other side of an alley. The beach of Sokcho is also famous, although it is accessible only 42 days per annum for reasons of defense from the territory, and that nettings and barbed wires are there of this fact many. There are several hot sources in the neighborhoods, and of the courses of golf whose surrounding landscape is appreciated.

The Lac Yeongrangho near is famous for its beauty, one admires there the reflection of the Massif of Seorak-san and in particular of the rock peak Ulsan-bawi. In the neighborhoods one finds several temples Buddhist good preserved. The principal building of the temple Sinheungsa (named Geukrakbojeon), built in XVéme century, is very tourist. The Pagode on three floors Hyangseongsaji samcheung seoktap of the temple Hyangseongsa also is very admired. It measures 4,30m and was set up in 652.

Sokcho shelters one of the rare lakes formed naturally by the sea.

Culture

Yeonggeumjeong is a famous house, frame at the seaside. One admires there not only sunrise it but still noise of the waves, that Korean finds especially beautiful in this place and who was probably the cause of the construction of this house.
