Sogecable

Sogecable is the first group of television with toll in Espagne.
The Entreprise is with dimensions with Madrid Stock Exchange, of Barcelona, of Valencia and Bilbao and fact part of the Ibex 35.

Shareholding

The capital is distributed between Prisa to 43,33%, Telefónica to 16,8%, Vivendi to 4,45%, Eventos SA to 2,97% and 32,45% out of purse.

History

The company was created in 1989 by Prisa and Canal+ to launch the television channel Canal+ Spain in analogical diffusion terrestre.
A few years later, Satellite Canal starts into analogical on the satellites Astra. With this intention, the company diversifies in the edition of chain sets of themes (Cinemanía, Sportmanía, Documanía,…)
With the advent of numerical, the bouquet gives up the analogical one and the group launches new chains of which CNN+, in partnership with Time Warner.
In 2003, Satellite Canal announces its fusion with its competitor Vía DIGITAL, which is concretized in 2004 by the creation of the Digital+.
bouquet November 7th 2005, Sogecable launches Cuatro, an analogical hertzian national chain in light which is diffused on the frequencies until now used by Canal+. The latter being more accessible only by satellite.
