Landerneau ( Breton Landerne in ) is a common department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France.
Located at the mouth of the coastal river of the Élorn which separates the country from Leon of the Cornwall, the city was founded on the hermitage ( lann ) of Saint Ténénan (or Terneau , Ternoc or Tinidor ) born in the island of Brittany and unloaded at the 7th century in Armorican Brittany, from where its name Lan-Ternoc .
The city knows one period of strong prosperity to the S thanks to the trade of the flax.
It is the cradle of companies like the first center E.Leclerc and the Coopagri.
The proverbial expression “That will make noise in Landerneau” would return to the din which was given there under the windows of a widow too quickly remariée. She is used when an event causes a great agitation in a closed medium, and by extension one calls “Landerneau” a medium considered as a high level closed club (the “cultural landerneau”, the “economic landerneau”).
According to another version, the expression would come from the prison of Brest, from which a blow from gun at the time of an escape was drawn, noise given that until Landerneau. With each escape, one could then say “that will make noise in Landerneau”.
