The Schinus soft , also called False-Pepper plant , is a tree of the family of the Anacardiaceae . It is originating in South America, with sheets finely divided and persistent, used for its decorative character in the Mediterranean gardens. Its port is falling down, its silhouette points out that of the Weeping willow.
In spring bunches of small flowers white-cream appear, without decorative interest, followed to dry the fruit autumn, similar to pink peppercorns.
Of average rusticity, it is défolié as of -5°C and the air parts do not resist a prolonged cold of -8°C.
