Sodoma
Giovanni Antonio Bazzi , known as Sodoma (Verceil 1477 - 1549) is an Italian painter.
The nickname of the painter is due to his taste for the boys (see the Vies Vasari, which writes that Sodoma was extremely in love with young people who were around him), that it divided with Caravage, Cellini, and many artists of its time.
Raise Martino Spanzotti, it acquired the manner of the school lombarde, then succeeded Signorelli with the cloister of Assembles Oliveto Maggiore. In 1512 he works with the Villa Farnesina in Rome, then settled with His where he carried out the major part of his career as fresquist, so that he is counted among the schoolmasters Sienan.
Although he was not a large draftsman, the control of Sodoma for the expressions, the movement and the color brings it closer to Léonard de Vinci, in particular for the figures female, gracious, soft and serious.
Its best pupil Riccio became his son-in-law by marrying his Faustina daughter.
