Società Entomologica Italiana

The Italian entomological Société ( Società Entomologica Italiana ) was founded with Florence the October 31st 1869 in the royal Museum of natural history, now known under the name of Musée of natural history of the university.

Its first president is Adolfo Targioni Tozzetti (1823-1902) and counted among his rows the great names of the Italian Entomologie like Giovanni Battista Grassi (1854-1925), Antonio Berlese (1863-1927), Filippo Silvestri (1873-1949) and Guido Grandi (1886-1970).

In 1922, the seat of the Company is transferred to the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale G. Doria. It makes appear, as from 1869, a bulletin three times per annum, Bollettino della Società Entomologica Italiana , and, starting from 1922, an annual report, Memorie della Società Entomologica Italiana . The library, located at Genoa, is rich of more than 1.000 monographs and 7.000 other publications.
