Socialist party (Senegal)
The Socialist party (PS) is a political party Senegalese, whose leader is Ousmane Tanor Dieng.
History
The PS is resulting from the founded Union progressist sénégalaise in 1958, after a series of fusions and rallyings.In November 1976 the party integrates the Internationale Socialist.
In December of the same year it takes the name of Socialist party.
At the time of the legislative elections of 2001, the PS collects 326.126 votes, that is to say 17,4%, and obtains 10 seats out of the 120 which account then the National Assembly of Senegal.
The PS is one of the parties having chosen the Boycott at the time of the legislative elections of 2007.
Orientation
It is a left party of , member of the Internationale Socialist.The PS is presented in the form of “an organization of the workmen, peasants and other workers, intellectuals and handbooks of Senegal, without reference of race, religion, origin, sex nor of age”. Opposed to any form of oppression of class and caste, by the conquest of the political power, the socialization of the means of production and exchange, he preaches the introduction of a Community company and a true democracy to the service of the people. While claiming socialist method, it intends well “to integrate in socialism, the cultural values of the Black Africa, in general, of Senegal in particular”.

Its seat is with Dakar (Hann Beautiful-Air).
